My Bangkok Trip - Day 5
wat arun or arun temple. located on the bank of river chao phraya, bangkok. went there by one of the express boat. photo taken from the boat, minutes before disembarking.
day 5. we're leaving the next day. so thought of taking the day easy. we decided to go on a river cruise on chao phraya. went to wat arun. its a buddhist temple. very famous. than off to kuan yins temple.
on the way there were some people selling their wares from boats. you know, floating market. bought a loaf of bread. in front kuan yin's temple in the river was where a huge school of patin lingers. fed them with the bread. besar-besar. instantly reminds me of patin masak tempoyak!
found on a wall in the great palace, bangkok. the monster creature is female. very graphic. the walls of the inner palace is full of these story, mostly based on stories of ramayana and mahabrata.
next stop was the grand palace. heres where the official function of the kingdom takes place, ie coronation. the emerald buddha is also located here. theres also a museum. the walls of the inner palace have paintings depicting stories from the ramayana and mahabrata. fascinating.
once done with the grand palace, off to dreamworld we go! its a theme park. definitely one of the best in the region, if not the best. there was this hanging coaster. instead of railing beneath the cars, its above. you can say its a cable car going at a million miles an hour. i havent ridden in a roller coaster for the longest time. after the ride, i remember the reason. swear im not going into one again!
there were a lot of rides in dreamworld and plenty of them cater for kids. and there's a hollywood show. fascinating. water and wet rides. yupp.. i got wet splashed. then there's this haunted house. we went in there. i was second. not bad as i still can see the scary things that jumps out of nowhere. then, this group of girls came in. and they're like bunch of scaredy cats. only worse. they went up front, holding to each other, and scared. im deprived from being jumped by the ghosts. tried to get ahead but they wouldnt let me. so fine. if i cant be scared, might as well i do the scaring. so thats what i did. i laughed. like a mad man. boy, these girls were so scared, they ran but couldnt as the place was very dark and narrow. instead they tripped over each other, sprawling on the floor. i laughed.. and they were like terrified until i stopped. hmm.. served them right!
going down a snowhill on a sled. head first. aaaaeeeiiiiiiiiii....!!!!!!!!!!! this was in a snow house at dreamland, a theme park near bangkok.
we also entered a snow house. freezing cold even with the supplied winter coats. and they have this snow slope where you can sled down in a rubber sled. cool. fascinating. fun! fun! thats the end of the day.
dinner that night was a feast at usman. fish, prawn, tom yam gung, etc. we even bought several pieces of thai silk from usman. oh yeah, the bazaar where we bought the thai cushion also delivered the cushions that night. both of em fit in a 29 inch tv box. hmm.. still no thai massage for me. bum-mer.
